This report focuses on participants who were living in BC at the time of survey completion. Our report seeks to capture the demographic profile of trans and non-binary individuals in BC, as well as measures related to access to health care and experiences of discrimination. To date, no comprehensive population-based data exists for trans and non-binary people in British Columbia. This vital data will inform future policy decisions and service provision, as well as future academic research.” buy_text=”” buy_textr=”” counter_number=”8″ counter_title=”APRIL 2022″ counter_post_text=”Virtual – Online” color_type=”white”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1648063048242{margin-right: 1px !important;margin-left: 1px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1648310850944{margin-top: 15px !important;margin-right: 25px !important;margin-left: 25px !important;}”]The 2019 TransPulse Canadian National Survey will be a document of importance for years to come. The quality of this survey adds value, like in the 1948 Kinsey Reports which are considered to be among one of the most important sources on human sexuality ever written. Its value can’t be underestimated as it provides insight into Canada’s most marginalized population – everything you need to know about this community!

As a trans-centric organization, we were fortunate to have an ally who cared enough about our community which has made all this possible. Thanks to the work of Dr. Nathan Lachowsky, he is among those who have been most supportive and understanding of our community’s needs throughout its history. We made some new friends along the way who helped us. And with their assistance, we were able to focus on analysis and use of data for positive change in the most impacted areas.

We sit on several advisory committees and participate in national authorship groups where there’s always room for improvement – like increasing the size of samples used or how frequently surveys are conducted throughout different regions. When I was done rearranging the entire statistical social norms, it felt like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. The project captured an accurate peak snapshot of community demographics and diversity for this area as well!

What I learned from this project is that it’s important to be aware of how your community demographics and diversity may change over time.

In an effort to provide the fullest possible picture, Dr. Greta Bauer and Dr. Ayden Scheim deserve praise for their work in guiding all teams through this complex process.

We are all “balls to the walls” getting everything ready for our next big project. We have a publication date set for early June with Stonewall Riots

Join our journey as we promote, publish, and pursue change needed from, the first bc wide survey of the trans, Two-Spirit, nonbinary community.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1648080832159{margin-right: 1px !important;margin-left: 1px !important;}”][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1648079096978{background-color: #a62685 !important;}”][vc_column_text]
